Do you want the opportunity to meet regularly with other equity professionals to develop your skills and strategies, build community, brainstorm and troubleshoot your organizational challenges in a container of trust and confidentiality towards achievable goals and intersectional liberation? We know you do! That is why we are offering our inaugural Equity Professionals Collaborative from March – June 2020!
What is it?
The Equity Professionals Collaborative will meet biweekly from March 20 - June 26 for a total of 28+ hours of professional development, community building and collaboration. Sessions will be designed and tailored to the needs and goals of participants, and will likely cover topics including:
Tools for raising your organization's equity knowledge baseline and commitment.
Strategies for organizing stakeholders, building coalitions and managing resistance to your equity initiatives.
Skills for facilitation, conflict resolution and restorative justice within a racial justice framework.
Strategies for self-care, self-regulation, and resiliency for sustaining you and your work.
Relationship building with peers doing similar work in a range of fields.
Opportunities to brainstorm, troubleshoot and consult with peers and facilitators real-time about your specific organizational challenges, away from the politics and relationships of your workplace.
Who is this for?
If you are formally or informally leading, volunteering, being voluntold, or otherwise engaging in social equity work for your organization, then we consider you an Equity Professional and invite you to apply for this year’s cohort today!
Who is running this?
We are Melody Martinez and Theresa Logan. We are Portland-based organizational equity consultants, and have been collaborating on a range of organizational equity projects for the past 4 years. Individually, we each have decades of unique individual experience as trainers and organizers in social justice movements and community spaces, as well as organizational development and capacity building. We bring considerable expertise not only as seasoned organizational equity consultants, but also in expertly designing and facilitating collaborative learning spaces. We are both attempting to recover from many years burning ourselves out in the non-profit sector and are seeking fair exchange for our labor and expertise while contributing to the creation of more sustainable and just communities and economies.
How much will my organization have to invest in this opportunity?
Our assumption is that all participants will be sponsored by their organization, this includes paying the participation fee and allowing your participation during work hours/on paid time. In an effort to keep the collaborative accessible for participants from small, non-profit and community-based organizations and sustainable for the facilitators, we are offering the following fee structure:
Full Fee: $1000
This is probably significantly less than your organization would spend sending you to a conference or an equivalent series of standalone local trainings, and neither of those would offer tailored content nor much likelihood of developing meaningful ongoing collaborative relationships. Just saying ;-)Solidarity Fee: $500
This discounted rate is available to individuals from organizations that are led by People of Color (more than 50% of senior leadership positions held by People of Color) AND any organization with a total annual budget of less than $1 Million.Space Trade: $0
We are offering one spot in the collaborative in exchange to an organization that is willing and able to host the sessions in an accessible and suitable space. Please contact us immediately at Theresa@subductionconsulting.com if your organization would like to be considered for this trade opportunity.Additional Scholarships
We will consider additional solidarity discounts for individuals from grassroots community organizations on a case-by-case basis, and would welcome sponsorship to increase our ability to offer that support. Please email us at Theresa@subductionconsulting.com if you would like to request or offer additional support.
